Farm Dog Intervals

It was a great day to spin out south of Farmington with the North wind hollowing. The next thing I heard was two golden retrievers hollowing next to me. They kept me company for the next 9 miles. The miles flew by with my two new training partners. I kind of felt like Jeff Hall and his trusty dog or maybe his dad's dog. Good times out in the country....... I was thinking I may run into my bro(tower) I 'm sure he would have got a kick out of my new  training partners. If you need motivation head on down to Farmtown and hook up with the Dog train. They will pull you for miles!

Go Big!

Thanks Lonie!!

Oh my gosh, a dream came true!  I finished 3rd at Chequamegan.  I was sooooo happy!  I want to thank my dear husband for all the training and encouraging.  I raced on my 2004 Giant XTC with over 6000 miles on it!  Lea Davison picked up my bike and said "You could take 10 minutes off your time!"  Wow!

We stayed at a friend's cabin outside of Spooner.  We also celebrated Lonie's birthday.  Lonie had a great race too, despite his mechanical and separated shoulder.  I am praying that he gets better soon.

Excited about 2012 season, hopefully good things to come!

God bless!

Thanks Lonie!!!!

Lonie and me after the "Salsa Two-Four"

Man Down!

Lonie has had his ups and downs this summer.  One of Lonie's ups was placing second at the "Salsa Two-Four" Mountain Bike Race 4 hour solo event.  I also decided not to do the state road race and do the 4 hour race too. I was happy to finish first at that "beast" of a course.  It rained the night before so the first two laps were interesting!

Last week we did the last Murphy Time Trial.  Lonie had his best time yet with 42 minutes flat, despite some muddy conditions.  I was a little slower that night, but good enough for the win!  Thursday night we headed over to River Falls for one more chance on the course before the "Border Battle."  Lonie took off like a bandit and was charging hard.  All of a sudden, Lonie's crank hit something and over the bars he went.  Lon said it was the hardest crash he had ever had.  Lonie separated his shoulder and then somehow it went back in place on its own.  Lonie has been to the doctor two times and they think it is getting better.

I raced the "Border Battle" and it was great!  The course was perfect and weather was stellar!  There were 17 pro/elite women!  I finished second to Kim Eppen at the race.  Kim is a tough rider and I was happy to be 1:54 back from her.

Next up is training for Chemqy LCR style!  God bless!!

Fun week!!

Lonie and I did a double-header this week.  We raced the Murphy TT and then Buck!  Great TT with about 50 racers or so.  I was lucky enough to win a $150.00 gift card from BRose from Free Wheel!

Our own Dawn LeTourneau hosted an amazing fundraiser for Brendan Moore's family at Buck!  Super gesture for a family in need.  Lots of racers for sure.  Fireworks, bouncy house, face painting, and bike racing.  Lonie and I are proud to ride for such a great team!  LCR is the best!

Next up..........Murphy TT and the state road race August 14th!

God bless and keep riding!

Summer Fun!!

Lonie and I have totally enjoyed our summer, it has been hot too!  I raced the MN State Crit Championships and finished 6th in Cat1/2.  I was hoping for the top 5, but I will take it.  I made some "rookie" mistakes before/during the race.   I did a watt test on Thursday and pulled too much in the front.  Teresa Moriarty tore it up again.  She did a 50 minute solo TT and took the win!  Oh well next time....commit and be prepared!!!!

Lonie and I raced at White Tail Ridge last week and then had a great dinner at the Fitzgerald's in WI!  Great time and super paleo food.  This week has been dedicated to training.  Lonie and I both got new cycling shoes and we are both seeing the "Bicycle Fit Guru" this weekend!  Chris Balser is "the man!"

Next races are MN State Road Race, WTR, and last fun week at Buck next Thursday!

God bless!!

Buck Hill

Lonie and I raced Buck Hill last Sunday.  What a hot one it was.  Humid and sticky.  Thank goodness my parents and sister came out for the water bottle hand offs.  They also helped Lonie and me count our laps.  Lonie raced 6 laps and I raced 5 laps.  Lonie and I are not too good in the heat..not sure why.

Lonie finished his race and I took the win.  It was great to get one win for the MN Series!  This week Lonie and I both suffered through a 20 minute bike test.  BRUTAL is all I have to say about that!  Next up either the State Crit or the new mtb race in Hayward.  We will see!!!

God bless!

Northfield Crit

Lonie and I decided to go race at the Northfield Crit on July 4th!!  Honestly, Lonie got my road bike down and dusted it off.  Lonie also threw a saddle on it and some mountain bike pedals on the rig. I love to live like this!  So we headed down to the race, registered, and I warmed up on the trainer.  Lonie is the best husband ever...what a great support and cheerleader!

The race went well, I just upgraded to cat 2 for the road July 4th too!  It was great to race with a total of 18 women.  About half way through the race, a women behind me crashed and bent my derailleur.  I just wanted to keep racing, not knowing how many gears I had!  I raced smart and took off on the last lap.  I finished 4/18 for the day!  Great to race with fast women; Linda Sone and Teresa Moriorty.

Lonie will test the new KONA on Thursday....eager to see how he does!  We are both racing Buck this weekend!  Take care and God Bless!

Lutsen 99er!!

Lonie and I headed up to Lutsen last Friday morning for the inaugural Lusten 99er!  Wow, what a beautiful place.  The race started and finished at the Lutsen Mountain Resort.  The race started out going downhill and then lead to a category 3 climb.  I hung with the lead group of men for a few mile short miles before I was dropped.  I then rode with a guy named Mark for about 20 miles.  Mark dropped me in the rocky, technical sections (I used a rigid fork).  I then rode alone for most of the race.

We saw a moose early on in the race, which was cool!  I also had an "X-Games Endo" in a rocky section.  I flew over the handlebars and the bike slammed down with a flat tire in the front.  I rode the bike as long as I could.  Then came along, Ryan Fitzgerald and Jason Scherman for assistance.  I rode with Ryan and Jason until we crossed the line.  I also had one good mud bath, some sections in the race were not rideable.  I fell in the muddy, murky water up to my neck.  I looked like a "muddy monster" with pink lipstick still on.

I reached the 56 mile mark and was informed that Lonie was in first place!  Lonie has been training hard and it was obvious at the race.  Lonie was riding with Dan Dittmer, Todd McFadden, Rod Raymod, and Sam Beveridge.  Sam then took the win for the men.  Lonie finished fourth, but cracked his frame!  Hopefully Kona will send one soon!

Lifetime Fitness put on a great event!  Thanks to Trek 29er Crew for my bike and our great mechanic Jayme at Ediscount Bikes!  Big thanks to Chuck Cowan at Behind Bars for your continued support!  We can't wait to race the Lutsen 99er again....rumor is it will be a Leadville qualifer?  This weekend I will be racing at Afton, poor Lonie will be cheering!

God Bless!!

Less than a week!

As we speak, Lonie and I are getting ready for the Lutsen 99er.  Lonie is doing all the bike stuff (bless his heart) and I TRYING to be useful in the house.  This weekend the weather has been great!  We ran and biked yesterday.  I also got see the amazing "Bike Fit Guru,"  Chris Balser.  I recommend him to anyone who wants to improve their biking! Chris is a kind soul who really knows his stuff.

Chris could not believe how ripped up Lonie is!  Chris said "Dude, you are ripped.  What have you been doing?"  Chris also told Lonie he needs a bike fit too, losing all that weight will change your positioning!

Lonie and I have 4 days of school left until summer vacation!  We are excited about training, lifting weights, running, biking, and laying out at the pool!

Buck Hill has been a blast this season.  Last week Lonie had some mechanical problems..bummer.  He will back in the mix this week!  The women started 30 seconds behind the men........that was fun and motivating!  2 more Buck Hills and then we are heading to White Tail Ridge in River Falls, WI!

Race report after the 99er!

God bless!

So far, so good!

Lonie and I have raced a few times since last post.  Lonie continues to tear it up at Buck Hill.  First week was 6th and second week 10th (not bad after a good crash too).  Lonie is looking lean and riding fast.  This season we have been warming up together, he keeps me calm!  In the past, I would go warm up and burn up all my matches!!  Lonie knows his stuff!

I won the first two Buck Hill races.  Can't beat the Thursday night beat down!  We also did a "The Fallen Oak Duatholon" put on by Rich Zilla this past Sunday.  Rich puts on great races! Lonie took 9th in the duatholon and I won the women's race.  Lonie caught me on the second bike lap and then flatted.  Lonie quickly went back to the car and fixed his flat and finished strong.

We opted out of the first MN MTB Series races due to the muddy conditions.  Our Lutsen 99er race is 3 weeks away.  Time to get our finishing training in and be ready to rip!

Next up, Afton in June for the MN MTB Series.  Keep hammering!!

Best Sandwich EVER!

Lonie and I did the Sandwich 50 today.  We decided to race it Wed. night, it was the MN Marathon Championships!  Lonie was 7th overall and I won the women's race. Larry Sauber also kicked butt 5th overall.  Brendan Moore (Trek) was flying by everyone!

Tight, turny single track was on the agenda today.  We had a great time.  Charly Tri (Trek 29er) put the race on!  Good job by all.  Next up maybe the Cable Classic if not, Buck starts this week.  Training for the Lutsen 99er, 5 short weeks away and CAN'T wait!

Winter begone now!

Lonie and I are looking forward to the warm weather? Maybe..........Lonie and I had fun racing a 5k in the rain on Saturday........Great memories..............

Looking forward to the race season..........Lutsen 99er is in are sites..........too bad we had to do a 70 mile ride INSIDE!  That just adds to the mental toughness.  6 weeks of school to go, we are pumped!  Nothing better than working at a school then June, July, and August.

Lonie did great for his first 5k, 7:19 pace!  I ran 6:40, not my PR but I will take it for a rainy, windy day in April.  Xterra racing, here we come!

Looking forward to ride for TREK 29er Crew and Larson Cycles again this year!  God bless for now!

Rag 111

Lonie did his first race of the year yesterday!  He decided to race the cyclocross bike for this race.  Lonie had a great 30 miles, at times pulling the group of top riders with his brother Larry.  Lonie arrived at the 40 mile checkpoint and decided to call it a day.  Lonie's achilles tendon was "bugging" him.  Good decision, we have the whole season of mountain bike racing this summer!

As me for me, nothing like having a great watt test on the agenda today.  OUCH, I would rather do a treadmill test.  I am also making some changes to our schedule this summer.  Trying to squeeze in some running races and maybe an Xterra race in Iowa!  More to come!

Spring Break 2011

Lonie and I are on spring break this week.  We are looking forward to training hard this week and eating some good food!  I made it through snow shoe season, 12th at nationals.  I had a bad injury back in January, 2nd degree snow burns on my feet. My fault, I was stubborn and did not wear gaitors at my first race.  I learned my lesson, missed some good training on and off the snow shoes.  I would like to give nationals another try in the future.

Lonie is gearing up for the Rag105, which is actually 111 miles this year.  He is getting a lot of good riding in with  excellent results on the Cycleops power tap.  Everyone thinks I am starving the poor guy, he has lost 31 pounds since last season.  I think he should do another body building show!

I am excited about racing for TREK 29er crew this summer.  Hopefully the snow will melt soon!

Keep the wheels motoring and GO BIG!
