Rusty Ride

Riding the "Rusty Ride 2013" is a must!  Lonie and I raced the 50 miler this past Saturday.  One word to describe this race, "Superb!"  This was a fundraiser for MORC (Minnesota Off Road Cyclists).  The race was a mix of snow mobile trails, paved roads, and single track.

A police car lead out the race through the town of Ironton-Crosby.  We then hit the snow mobile trials going about 20 miles per hour.  Everyone was drafting and having fun!  All of a sudden, a guy swerved at something, and down we went!  It was like watching "dominoes" fall!  Lonie and I both went flying.  My guardian angel (another guy racing) caught me from behind and put me back on the ground.  Pretty amazing, that no one got seriously hurt!

From them on, it was race on!  The single track is a made of small little pieces of iron ore and will leave your body and bike with a beautiful "spray tan!"  There were burms, bridges, and fast downhills.  My favorite climb was "Miners Mountain."  Miners Mountain overlooks crystal-blue iron ore lakes with beautiful views!

Congrats to Larry Sauber too for getting 2nd at the 100 miler, you freak!

I can't wait to race at this event again next year!  Great times!  Thanks again to Joel Benton and James Kauth for the extra water bottles.  Next up, our first Pre Fat!

Way too long...........

Wow, what a great summer it has been.  We have not updated forever, but here it goes!  I took 12 credits this summer, so I have been busy!  Not much free time, between studying, training, and racing.  The racing is going well.....I won my first WORS race at Eau Claire, which was great fun!  Thanks to Lonie and his coaching.  I was so excited to make Cycling News.  Here is the link!http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/wisconsin-off-road-series-wors-5-chippewa-valley-firecracker-2012/results

We also went up to the Telemark Forest Mountain Bike Race in mid July.  What a great time racing a few Olympic skiers!  Then Lonie and I went to Napa Valley for my cousin's wedding.  We had a super time and 5 days off the bike!

Thanks to Saris, they sent me a new handle bar mount for my power tap!  I love that company, they rock and so do their employees!  They have super products and superb customer service!

Lonie and I are now teaching summer school.  Fun to see the kids again!  I think the Rhino Rally may be on tap this weekend!  We shall see!!!

God bless!

Cable and Afton FUN weekend!!

Way to go Lonie and Kevin.  Great race at Afton!

Lonie and me after the Cable Classic!  I was happy to see that I still have on my pink lipstick!  HA!

Congrats Sara Kylander-Johnson for winning the Cable Classic again!  Good race Diana McFadden too.  I was happy to race for 3rd!
My daughter I will never have Kera Fitzgerald!

Lonie and I had a super weekend of racing.  After work Friday we drove to Cable, Wisconsin.  We met up with our dear friend Brendan and new friend Bob.  Bob was nice enough to let us stay at his cabin on Lake Owen.  Lonie and I arrived at the cabin around 7:30 pm and then went for a little spin on the bikes.  Bob then took us out for a boat ride on the cleanest lake in Wisconsin.  We saw a loon up close and 5 bald eagles.  We ate a great dinner cooked by Brendan and got to bed!

The Cable Classic is a mix of fire roads and rocky single track.  Lonie and I rode to Lakewoods for the start.  Lonie had a great race and had his best finish at the Cable Classic.  I had a fun race too and placed 3rd among the women.

After the race, we rode back to the cabin and headed home.  We then decided to race at Afton on Sunday.  I was surprised at the great turnout for the race!  Lonie won his age group and I placed 2nd.  Great race by all!

Special thanks for Leopard Cycles, Bicycle Fit Guru, CycleOps, LCR, and Janky Cycles for your help and support!

Next up............ Buck Hill tonight and WORS Race on June 3rd in Wausau!

Thanks CycleOps

Long time, no write.  Well, I burned up my CycleOps Fluid 2 trainer.  The seal  started leaking about 2 weeks ago.  I was wondering why biking was SO easy.  Oh gosh, now I have to start working again.  Thanks to CycleOps they sent me replacement resistance unit today!  What great customer service.  I contacted CycleOps on Wednesday and received a new one today!  A special thanks for Cassandra Habel at CycleOps, her customer service is superb!  Thanks also for selecting me for your Grassroots Sponsorship for CycleOps for 2012.  CycleOps has great products, especially the power tap!

Lonie and I got in the Rag 105!  We also got accepted to be ambassadors for LARABAR for 2012.  For any of you that have not tried LARABAR, they are excellent and glueten free!  We will be handing out LARABARS at local bike races.

Cheq 100 maybe on our radar, sounds epic.  We will keep that in mind.  I would be stoked to ride with my husband and brother-in-law....Larry....he is a psycho!  I love him and he is a great biker!

Keep safe and God bless,
Rebecca and Lonie
